When to See Your General Dentist
Our office recommends making an appointment to see a general dentist every six months for a standard cleaning and exam. During these appointments, we will thoroughly clean your teeth and then examine your smile for any problems. If we find cavities or other issues, we will come up with a treatment plan for remedying them. Know that these routine appointments are also great times to ask questions and to bring up any concerns you have about your teeth.
Not only should you see a general dentist every six months for a checkup and cleaning, but you should also see a general dentist when you experience pain or swelling in your mouth, neck, or face. This could indicate one of your teeth is giving you problems and either needs a filling, a crown, or another form of restorative work.
Additionally, you should come and visit your office if your teeth suddenly become sensitive to hot and cold. When this occurs, tooth decay may be occurring, which can lead to ongoing dental problems and extensive dental work if not remedied sooner rather than later.
Even if you simply have concerns about your smile or are interested in restorative work, we are always here for you. Whether during your six-month checkup or another visit to our office, we promise to do what’s best for you and your smile and to listen diligently to your concerns.
